Latlight (latlight.net) is a personal website. For anything about your data, write to contacts@latlight.net.
Just reading the site
You can read every page without giving any personal details. Like every web server, ours briefly records technical information such as your IP address and browser in its access logs; our hosting provider keeps these for security and deletes them on its normal schedule.
Fonts and icons are served from this site itself, not from Google or another font service.
Analytics (only if you allow it)
If you click Allow in the small banner, we load Google Analytics to count which pages are read.
Google then sets cookies whose names start with _ga and receives your IP address
and browser details. If you click No thanks, or never answer, Google Analytics
is not loaded at all.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, we store your email address, the time you agreed, the page language, and a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address to stop abuse. You only receive emails after you click the confirmation link we send. Every email has an unsubscribe link; using it deletes your address from the list. Unconfirmed signups are not emailed again.
Contact form
When you send a message we keep your name, email address and message on our server and forward them to our inbox, so we can answer you. We delete messages once they are no longer needed.
Comments, likes and film votes
Comments show the name you type and your text publicly next to the recipe or fact. Likes and film votes are linked to a random ID that your browser creates (it is not connected to your name). To limit spam, a hashed form of your IP address is kept for up to one hour.

These stay on your device and are never sent to us, except the random ID used for likes and votes:

The site also stores a copy of pages and images in your browser so the planner works offline. Clearing your browser's site data removes all of this.
Content from other sites
- A few pictures (in the Lumen Lab: a photo from Pexels, two museum photos from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, and a YouTube preview image) are loaded from those sites, which can see your IP address.
- Videos are only loaded from YouTube after you press play.
- Links to IMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, Instagram and others are ordinary links; nothing is loaded until you click them.
Your rights
You can ask us what we store about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to its use, by writing to contacts@latlight.net. If you live in the EU you can also complain to your data protection authority. We do not sell or share your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
