Normal: the North Hollywood shootout

Normal, Minnesota and its secrets are invented, but a bank robbery that turns into a small war really happened. On 28 February 1997 two robbers in full body armour, armed with automatic rifles, came out of a Bank of America branch in North Hollywood, Los Angeles, and found the police waiting. The gunfight lasted 44 minutes and around 2,000 rounds were fired. Officers' pistols could not get through the armour, so some of them borrowed rifles from a nearby gun shop. Both robbers died, and around 20 people were injured. Afterwards, American police forces began arming patrol officers with rifles.
