My review
It’s actually shot pretty well. The plot was good and keeps you hooked until the very end, but the ending was a bit of a letdown. The scare factor is below average.
Hokum: the last "witch" burned in Ireland
An Irish inn that keeps a witch locked in a room is folklore, but Irish folk belief once led to a real tragedy. In March 1895, in County Tipperary, Bridget Cleary fell ill. Her husband Michael became convinced she had been taken by the fairies and replaced by a changeling. With relatives watching, he forced herbs on her, held her over the fire and finally burned her to death, believing his real wife would return. He was convicted of manslaughter and served 15 years. Irish children still know the grim rhyme: "Are you a witch or are you a fairy, or are you the wife of Michael Cleary?"
